EPA Air Toxics Monitoring Project (RARE) – The Environmental Protection Agency is testing new air toxics monitoring technology in Louisville's Rubbertown area. The project is funded via the EPA's Regional Applied Research Effort (RARE) and the APCD is assisting in the siting and operation of the monitors. Click here for more details.
ASRC request for STAR permit modification – The APCD has modified a Strategic Toxic Air Reduction (STAR) program environmental acceptability goal for the American Synthetic Rubber Company, but has denied another modification request. Open Burning – Outdoor fires are generally prohibited in Louisville/Jefferson County. But certain fires are allowed with a permit.
