The people of Newburg are getting ready to once again host their own special homecoming of welcoming back old friends and celebrate the unity and pride of one of Metro Louisville’s well-established neighborhoods. Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) announces “Newburg Days Festival” will get underway on Friday, August 30th, Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 1st.

Aug 22 2019 City seeks additional community input for Bowman area plan

Louisville Metro Government, through the Office of Advanced Planning & Sustainability, is developing a neighborhood plan for the Bowman area. An open house will be held to share how development of the plan is progressing with residents on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon at the historic Bowman Field Administration Building, 2817 Taylorsville Road.

Aug 20 2019 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to renew a FEDOOP operating permit for Multi Packaging Solutions dba Westrock (printing operation), 1703 South Brook Street, Louisville, KY 40208, in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This is a standard FEDOOP renewal and name change. The 30-day public comment period starts on August 21, 2019, and ends on September 23, 2019. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

President David James (D-6) was on hand for the official opening of a new office on South Fourth Street which will be home to the NOIR Black Business Social Club Inc. On Monday, the nonprofit group announced they will soon transition into a full-fledged African American chamber of commerce.

Councilman Bill Hollander invites the community to attend a D9 Community Conversation with MSD and LMPD.

The meeting is Wednesday, August 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m., at the St. Matthews Library, 3940 Grandview Avenue.

Special guest is Wesley Sydnor with MSD to provide information on the Beargrass Creek Three Forks Study with the Army Corps of Engineers, and the Beargrass Creek Greenway. Mr. Sydnor will also be available to answer any drainage questions.
