On March 10, the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services held a hearing on a “Notice of Intent to Suspend” the permit of the Economy Inn that was filed by the Louisville Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness over repeated health and safety violations at the facility.

The Director of Louisville Metro’s Office of Housing and Community Development is retiring effective March 27th, 2015.  Virginia Peck joined Metro in 2012 as the Director of Community Services and Revitalization and was appointed the first Director of Housing and Community Development with Develop Louisville in 2014.

Mar 19 2015 Brightside/Waste Management of Kentucky’s Premium Compost Sale Returns March 21 and April 25, 2015

Brightside’s bi-annual compost sale and fundraiser will be held Saturday, March 21 and Saturday, April 25 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Outer Loop Recycling and Disposal Facility located at 2673 Outer Loop, Louisville, Kentucky 40219.

Brightside’s community partner, Waste Management of Kentucky, generously donated the organic, plant-based compost again this spring.  All proceeds from the sale will benefit Brightside’s beautification and sustainability efforts.

Mar 17 2015 Metro Parks Earns Funding to Connect West Louisville Youth to Outdoor Experiences

Louisville Metro Parks & Recreation has received $25,000 to engage children and families in West Louisville in outdoor activities as well as summer trips to Mammoth Cave National Park for at-risk teens. The funding comes from the National Park Service and the Outdoor Foundation as part of the 2014 Challenge Cost Share Program, which supports projects that promote urban outreach, youth engagement and connecting people to the outdoors.
