Oct 9 2014 Brightside Youth Summit to Focus on Local Food System

Over 150 local middle and high school students will participate in the Fall 2014 Food Systems Youth Summit sponsored by Brightside and the Partnership for a Green City, in collaboration with Healthy Foods, Locals Farms Conference.

The Youth Summit will be held at the Jefferson Community and Technical College Downtown Campus, Health Science Building on Friday, October 10 from 8a.m. – 1:30p.m. Mayor Greg Fischer will address students at the close of the event.

Oct 8 2014 LIHEAP Subsidy Pre-Registration starts in October

The Louisville Metro Community Action Partnership’s LIHEAP Program (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) is a federally funded program that provides financial assistance to help low-income residents pay utility bills. The Subsidy component of LIHEAP will begin November 3, 2014.

Pre-registration opportunities for the Subsidy Program will be offered during October for those residents who are on a fixed income, and who are elderly (age 60 or over) or disabled receiving social security, SSI, pension or Black Lung benefits.

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control Board will hold a public hearing on October 15, 2014, on proposed Agreed Board Orders with Swift Pork Company and the Medical Center Steam Plant. Swift is alleged to have violated District Regulation 2.17 (Federally Enforceable District Origin Operating Permits) at its facility located on Story Avenue in Jefferson County, Kentucky. The Steam Plant is alleged to have violated District Regulation 2.16 (Title V Operating Permits) at its facility on Abraham Flexner Way in Jefferson County, Kentucky.

Oct 5 2014 Proposed Title V Construction Permit for Louisville Medical Steam Plant

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a construction permit to Louisville Medical Steam Plant (Steam Production and Distribution Plant), Abraham Flexnor Way, in accordance with Regulation 2.03. The 30-day public comment period starts October 5, 2014, and ends on November 4, 2014. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.
