President Yates announces Chairs and Vice-Chairs for 2017 Metro Council Committees

Redevelopment of Colonial Gardens moves forward
Plans were filed today for a $5 million redevelopment of Colonial Gardens in south Louisville.
The adaptive reuse project includes renovating the 7,000-quare-foot historic Colonial Gardens building, as well as adding two new, one-story buildings that will share a common patio and garden area.

Rental Registry for rental properties in Metro Louisville is now up and running online
A new Rental Registry for all rental property in Metro Louisville is now up and running online following the passage of an ordinance in September by the Louisville Metro Council. Effective March 1, 2017, all property located in Louisville Metro and occupied or offered for occupancy in exchange for money or any other consideration must be registered with Louisville Metro Government.

Metro Council approves $6.2 million in the Midyear Budget Adjustment spending to focus on violent crime and homicides
In a unanimous vote, the Louisville Metro Council on Thursday night approved $6.2 million in spending for a focused effort to combat violent crime in the city where the homicide rate has climbed to 119 in Metro Louisville for the current year.

Councilman Johnson encourages District 21 neighborhoods to attend Part 150 Workshop hosted by Louisville Regional Airport Authority
The Louisville International Airport is located in the middle of Metro Council District 21 and there is currently an effort underway to update how noise impacts the surrounding areas. That is why Councilman Dan Johnson (D-21) is encouraging residents who live in the airport area to take part in a public workshop by the Louisville Regional Airport Authority (LRAA) as it develops an updated Noise Exposure Map known as Part 150.

Councilman Johnson invites District 21 to “Light Up Beechmont” for holiday cheer and re-dedication of restored neighborhood clock
The Beechmont Neighborhood will welcome the holidays on Wednesday, November 30th with lighting of its gazebo and season fun and cheer for the community. On the same night, the community will highlight the clock at the corner of Southern Parkway and Woodlawn Avenue which is now operating again thanks to the efforts of Councilman Dan Johnson.

Historic City Hall goes pink in October as a reminder for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is usually a month associated with orange and black. However, this weekend the city will focus its attention on the color pink to let every woman know it’s time to do something to fight a killer. Beginning October 1st, the Historic City Hall Clock Tower at Sixth and Jefferson will glow pink as a reminder that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Metro Council approves rental registry ordinance for rental properties in Metro Louisville
By a vote of 17 to 4, the Louisville Metro Council on Thursday approved an ordinance which will create a rental registry of all rental properties in Metro Louisville. The goal of the ordinance is to be proactive in improving quality of life issues in Metro Louisville.
