Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton elected 2018 Majority Leader
On Thursday, members of the Democratic Caucus elected Councilwoman Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5) to serve as Majority Caucus Chair for 2018. The position also carries with it the title of President Pro Tem of the Metro Council. The Caucus elected Councilwoman Barbara Sexton Smith (D-4) to serve as Vice-Chair.

Council Members Hollander and Hamilton applaud approval of public tree ordinance
Metro Councilmembers Bill Hollander (D-9) and Cheri Bryant Hamilton (D-5) applauded tonight’s bipartisan 20 to 3 vote approving a Louisville Metro Public Tree Ordinance. When the ordinance is signed by the Mayor, Louisville Metro will finally join other jurisdictions that have had a tree protection ordinance for years.

Metro Council approves Resolution asking the Air Pollution Control District to deny American Synthetic Rubber's request to modify its STAR goals
By a unanimous vote, the Louisville Metro Council approved a resolution calling for American Synthetic Rubber Company to comply with the city’s Strategic Toxic Air Reduction (STAR) goals. The Resolution calls for the Air Pollution Control District to deny the company’s second request for modification from the 2004 STAR goals.

With the back drop of the Peterson-Dumesnil House, residents of Crescent Hill, Clifton, the Highlands, and St. Matthews will have a chance to find out what’s going on in the fight against crime on Tuesday, August 1st. For a sixth year, the Fifth Division of Louisville Metro Police will host the 2017 National Night Out Celebration at this well-known landmark, located at 301 S. Peterson Avenue in Crescent Hill.
