Historic City Hall Clock Tower goes pink in October as a reminder for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is usually a month associated with orange and black. However, the Louisville Metro Council is focusing its attention on pink to let everyone know it’s time to do something to fight a killer. For the rest of the month of October, the Historic City Hall Clock Tower at Sixth and Jefferson Streets will glow pink as a reminder that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Councilwoman Sexton Smith and LMPD call on the public to “Lock, Take and Hide” to fight auto theft downtown
Since the beginning of 2019, Louisville Metro Police are seeing a noticeable increase in both auto theft and theft from cars in the Central Business District of Downtown. As a result, the “Lock, Take, and Hide” campaign is now underway to remind drivers and passengers of the simple ways in which to prevent theft involving automobiles.

Councilwoman Barbara Sexton Smith (D-4) will join the neighbors of Shelby Park and many others for a special unveiling of a plaque which honors two special Louisville Women. On Tuesday, September 24th, a plaque honoring the accomplishments of Nellie Crawford and Christa Robinson will be unveiled at the corner of East Oak Street and South Jackson.

Metro Council Approves the FY 2019-2020 Operating and Capital Budgets
By a vote of 24 to 1, the Louisville Metro Council has approved the Fiscal Year 2019-2020 Operating Budget for Metro Government. In a unanimous vote, the Council has approved the 2019-2020 Fiscal Year Capital Budget for Metro Government.

Every day in this country, 100 Americans are killed by gun violence and on average there are nearly 13,000-gun homicides every year. Just in the last two weeks, Louisville Metro has experienced eight homicides and six shootings. All connected with gun violence. National Gun Violence Awareness Day is June 7th
