Metro Parks Earns Funding to Connect West Louisville Youth to Outdoor Experiences
Louisville Metro Parks & Recreation has received $25,000 to engage children and families in West Louisville in outdoor activities as well as summer trips to Mammoth Cave National Park for at-risk teens. The funding comes from the National Park Service and the Outdoor Foundation as part of the 2014 Challenge Cost Share Program, which supports projects that promote urban outreach, youth engagement and connecting people to the outdoors.

Mayor Rallies Community for "Give A Day" Week of Service, April 18-26
A tractor-trailer load of toys and supplies for school kids in need, bikes for refugees from war-torn countries and a community drive for stuffed animals for kids who have experienced crime, fires or other crisis. Those are some of the projects planned during the fourth annual Give A Day volunteer week April 18-26. The week of service helps launch the 2015 Kentucky Derby Festival.

Louisville Earns National Ranking for Job Creation Momentum
The Louisville metro area has earned a Top 10 ranking for economic development and job creation from a leading national publication thanks to a slate of business investments and company expansions and locations in 2014.
Louisville placed ninth in Site Selection Magazine’s ranking of top tier metro areas with population over one million – that was up seven spots from the year before, the largest jump by any metro area in the top ten.

Free Training for Manufacturing Jobs Offered in West Louisville
Individuals wanting to launch a new career in manufacturing or certify their skills to get a better manufacturing job should attend an orientation session at the Nia Center in the next two weeks.
