34th Annual Great Louisville Fire Drill
On October 15, 2017 the Louisville Division of Fire will be celebrating the 34th Annual Great Louisville Fire Drill in partnership with 5 area Kroger stores. From 1-5pm, fire crews will be stationed outside these stores to provide fire safety information, static equipment displays and serve fire house chili. The Great Louisville Fire Drill is held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, a nationwide annual campaign commemorating the Great Chicago Fire in 1871.

Louisville Fire Sgt. Loses Battle with Cancer
It is with great sorrow that the Louisville Division of Fire mourns the loss of Sgt. Timothy J. Groft. He lost his battle with cancer today and was surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Sgt. Groft was a 15 year veteran of the Division and spent the majority of his career serving Louisville’s west end, his last assignment being at Engine 6 in the Portland Neighborhood.

On this Day: Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire
On the night of May 28, 1977, 165 people perished and 200 were injured when a fire broke out at the Beverly Hills Supperclub in Southgate, Kentucky. Investigators believe that an electrical short was the cause of the fire.

10th Anniversary of Zane Street Fire - St. Patrick's Day
In the late afternoon hours on March 17, 2006, a fire broke out at a large vacant warehouse located at 1107 Zane Street resulting in a multi-alarm response. Heavy fire was observed on the north one-story section of the building in the center of the roof. Because of the condition of the building, the responding Louisville Division of Fire companies performed a defensive attack. The fire continued to grow and spread southward into the remaining warehouse and

6 Fire Prevention Bureau Members Given Oath of Office
This afternoon, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer administered the Oath of office to 6 members of the Louisville Division of Fire's Fire Prevention Bureau at Fire Headquarters. These members currently hold the rank of Sergeant and work as Fire Inspectors enforcing fire code, teaching public education programs, and also New Construction/Fire plan review.

13 Division Members Promoted to New Positions
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Louisville Division of Fire Chief, Colonel Gregory W. Frederick celebrated the promotion of 13 members of the Louisville Division of Fire. Members were promoted to positions of Assistant Chief, Battalion Chief, Fire Apparatus Operator, Fire Company Commander, Fire Storekeeper II, Fire Account Clerk Typist, and Fire/EMS Maintenance Coordinator. We wish them luck in their new roles within the Division of Fire!

Louisville Division of Fire Holds Promotional Ceremony for 9 Firefighters
Today, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer and Louisville Division of Fire Chief, Colonel Gregory W. Frederick celebrated the promotion of nine firefighters. Five Firefighters were promoted to Fire Apparatus Operators (Sergeants) and four Sergeants were promoted to Fire Company Commanders (Captains). Sergeants are responsible for the safe operation of response vehicles during emergency and non-emergency incidents.
