Retired and Senior Volunteers Honored for Service
Louisville Metro’s RSVP (Retired & Senior Volunteer Program) will host their annual recognition event, “Celebrating Volunteer Giving,” on Wednesday, December 2, from 12 - 3 p.m. at The Olmsted, (Masonic Home Campus) 3701 Frankfort Ave. The event is generously sponsored by Passport Health Plan – sharing in RSVP’s goal for seniors’ healthy living and community involvement.

Brightside/Waste Management of Kentucky’s Premium Compost Sale Returns October 10 and October 17, 2015
Brightside’s bi-annual compost sale and fundraiser will be held Saturday, October 10 and October 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Outer Loop Recycling and Disposal Facility located at 2673 Outer Loop, Louisville, Kentucky 40219.
Brightside’s community partner, Waste Management of Kentucky, generously donated the organic, plant-based compost again this fall. All proceeds from the sale will benefit Brightside’s beautification and sustainability efforts.

Mayor Greg Fischer today unveiled the inaugural project of Louisville Metro’s Public Art Initiative, Connect|Disconnect: A Public Art Experience. The exhibition of five, site-specific installations was created in partnership with Louisville Forward the Commission on Public Art to promote the understanding and enjoyment of public art in Louisville.

Public Art Exhibition Announced
Mayor Fischer is pleased to announce Connect/Disconnect, a public art exhibition in Louisville that will take place during the fall of 2015. Louisville Metro Government, in conjunction with the Commission on Public Art (COPA), has invited artists to transform a unique riverfront site at the Ohio River through an exhibition of site-specific, temporary public art installations.

Give A Day Week Produces Over 166,000 Volunteers, Acts of Compassion
The volunteer projects ranged from helping distribute toys to needy kids to renovating abandoned houses for deserving families to repairing bicycles for use by refugees. Those and many other projects and deeds produced more than 166,000 volunteers and acts of compassion during Louisville’s fourth annual Give A Day week of service which ended April 26.

Mayor, Volunteers Set to Launch Annual Week of Service
Volunteers will help distribute toys and other items to needy children. Abandoned homes will be rebuilt for deserving families. Elementary students will hold a read-a-thon to fight child abuse and volunteers will build “Little Libraries” to place in West Louisville neighborhoods.

Mayor Rallies Community for "Give A Day" Week of Service, April 18-26
A tractor-trailer load of toys and supplies for school kids in need, bikes for refugees from war-torn countries and a community drive for stuffed animals for kids who have experienced crime, fires or other crisis. Those are some of the projects planned during the fourth annual Give A Day volunteer week April 18-26. The week of service helps launch the 2015 Kentucky Derby Festival.

Brightside/Passport Health Plan Fall Community-Wide Cleanup to be held Saturday, October 25, 2014
Over 4,000 volunteers will join together on Saturday, October 25 for the Annual Brightside/Passport Health Plan Fall Community-Wide Cleanup to pick up litter and beautify nearly 150 sites in Louisville.
“Joining forces and pulling together to make our city cleaner creates a more attractive city for residents and visitors,” Mayor Greg Fischer said. “It’s also a super pride-booster, developing stronger neighborhoods, with engaged and connected citizens.”
