Jul 11 2019 Neighborhood Place partners host eight back to school events

Neighborhood Place and numerous community partners will offer eight back to school events in late July and early August 2019.  These events will provide free school supplies while supplies last as well as a wide range of services and resources to help local youth and families be better prepared for the start of school year.

Jul 1 2019 Free tax preparation for residents filing past due returns

Although the 2018 tax filing season has ended, there is still free help available in preparing past due and amended tax returns.  Now through October, the Louisville Asset Building Coalition’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, or VITA, will provide federal and state income tax assistance to income eligible residents who need help filing prior returns. It is also still possible to receive a refund for returns from the years 2016 to 2018 for those who qualify.

Jun 13 2019 Age-Friendly Louisville Raises Awareness for World Elder Abuse Day

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is this Saturday, June 15, 2019. This annual day of awareness calls attention to a growing population of elderly people and some of the abuses they face. As longevity increases, abuse of the elderly is an increasing and serious problem that affects health and human rights and can cause death, so it is vital to raise awareness to prevent it whenever and wherever possible.

Jun 4 2019 Neighborhood Place partners host Shawnee Community Celebration, Senior Farmer Market registrations and more

May 31 2019 Free electric fans for seniors and disabled individuals on June 8

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, community organizations, and residents, hundreds of electric fans have been collected to provide heat relief for seniors and people with disabilities.  A "Fan Fair" giveaway and resource event is scheduled for Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Edison Center, 701 W. Ormsby Ave., Louisville, KY 40203.

Women of all ages are invited to a free, eight-week series focusing on educating and empowering women by building knowledge and skills in multiple areas.  Starting Monday, May 6, 2019, the “Women’s Empowerment Group” will feature practical tips on weekly topics including relationships, parenting, mental and physical health, education, employment, and finances.

Louisville Metro Government today announced the process to apply for the External Agency Fund for FY20 (July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020). These grants funded through the city’s general fund are awarded to non-governmental, or "external” agencies that contribute to the city's cultural, social and economic vitality.
