Neighborhood Place partners offer a Career Readiness Series and "Unite in White" celebration
Neighborhood Place locations in Louisville will offer an eight-week career readiness and professional development workshop geared towards women as well as multiple opportunities to strengthen physical and financial health for all genders and ages, including a community health fair on September 26. On September 4, staff members at all Neighborhood Place locations are encouraged to wear white as a sign of unity and to celebrate the positive impact of their work in our community. To learn more

Celebrate Medicare’s 50th Anniversary with Senior Programs on August 27
To celebrate Medicare’s 50th anniversary, the Senior Medicare Patrol with Louisville Metro Public Health & Wellness, AARP KY, the Senior Nutrition Program with Louisville Metro Community Services, and Metro Parks invite senior citizens, Medicare beneficiaries, their families and caregivers to a festive event including refreshments, Bingo with prizes, and other fun. The event will be on Thursday, August 27 from 10 -11 a.m.

Algonquin Pool To Reopen Friday, July 10
The Algonquin pool, which sustained major damage due to vandals who struck over Independence Day weekend, will re-open today(July 10, 2015) at 1 p.m. (weather permitting) after being closed since Sunday for repairs.

Scheller’s, Metro Parks & Recreation install ‘fix-it’ stations in 10 Metro Parks
Cyclists who need air in their tires or to make other minor repairs on the fly can now do so in 10 Louisville parks, thanks to a partnership between Scheller’s Fitness & Cycling and Metro Government.
The fix-it stations are intended to provide cyclists with a convenient option to make repairs should something happen while out on a ride.

Mayor outlines parks budget investments at Mary T. Meagher aquatic facility
A critically needed new pool filter at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center is part of the $7.4 million in parks improvements and maintenance included in Mayor Greg Fischer’s recommended city budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Fischer and parks’ officials outlined the investments at the Mary T., one of the most heavily used parks facilities, which hosts tens of thousands of users and groups of all ages each year.

Children's Summer Food Service Program Begins June 8, 2015
Louisville Metro Department of Community Services is once again participating in the Summer Food Service Program for children beginning Monday, June 8, 2015. There are 15 sites across Louisville that will serve a combination of two of the following meals -- breakfast, lunch and a snack -- to all children (ages 1-18), free of charge.

Mayor’s Hike, Bike & Paddle Returns Memorial Day
Thousands of cyclists, paddlers and walkers will be in motion Memorial Day at the 21st Subway Fresh Fit Hike, Bike & Paddle May 25 at Waterfront Park.
“This has become a true signature event for Louisville – a demonstration of how much our residents love being outdoors and participating in family-oriented healthy exercise and recreation,” Mayor Greg Fischer said.

Metro Parks Earns Funding to Connect West Louisville Youth to Outdoor Experiences
Louisville Metro Parks & Recreation has received $25,000 to engage children and families in West Louisville in outdoor activities as well as summer trips to Mammoth Cave National Park for at-risk teens. The funding comes from the National Park Service and the Outdoor Foundation as part of the 2014 Challenge Cost Share Program, which supports projects that promote urban outreach, youth engagement and connecting people to the outdoors.
