Neighborhood Place partners offer a variety of health-focused events and services in August including three opportunities to attend an educational baby shower, a Healthy Living Club to help reduce stress, a Diabetes Self-Management class, and a series of classes focused on healthy meal planning and eating. Neighborhood Place and numerous community partners will offer eight back to school events in late July and early August 2018.  These events will provide free school supplies while supplies last as well as a wide range of services and resources to help local youth and families be better prepared for the start of school year.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Getting your first bike is pretty special, but its even more memorable when an LMPD officer helps you build it. 

That's what happened during the "A Kid, A Cop, and A Cause" event held at Fourth Street Live! on Sunday.

Police officers, EMTs and firefighters helped local foster children build brand new bikes. In addition to the bikes, each child was also given a new helmet and backpack. 

More than 100 kids went home with new bikes.

Mayor Greg Fischer today joined local officials, students and residents from the Russell neighborhood to celebrate the completion of renovations and the addition of a sprayground at Sheppard Park. The sprayground is part of a number of changes within the park that includes the addition of a Conga drum play area, new restrooms, walking path markers, picnic tables and park benches.

A fun – and free – family event will take place on the banks of the Ohio River in southwest Louisville on Saturday, June 16 as Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing hosts “Family Farm and Forage Day” from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will explore historic and present-day farming with a variety of children’s activities, workshops, talks and booths.

May 31 2018 CycLOUvia Returns to Frankfort Avenue on June 24

CycLOUvia, the popular event showcasing alternative transportation, is returning to Frankfort Avenue for the fifth time on Sunday, June 24, Mayor Greg Fischer announced. Frankfort Avenue from Pope Street to Stilz Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from 2-6 p.m. Police will facilitate a motor crossing at Ewing Avenue. Many businesses along the corridor will be open and engaging the street with specials for the event.

May 18 2018 Parks and Recreation swimming pools to open Memorial Day Weekend

The four outdoor pools operated by Louisville Parks and Recreation will open for the season on Saturday, May 26. The Algonquin, Norton, Fairdale and Sun Valley Park pools are fully staffed with lifeguards, though the department is looking to hire additional staff for the pools this summer.
