Sep 11 2019 Public feedback to be presented on Eastern Parkway improvement study


The second public meeting on an Eastern Parkway improvement study will be held at 6 p.m.  Tuesday, Sept. 24, where the project team will present feedback and input gathered from the first public meeting and online. The Eastern Parkway Transportation Study is aimed at updating the Eastern Parkway corridor between Cherokee Park and Crittenden Drive to make it more user friendly to motorists, pedestrians and cyclists while improving drainage and landscaping.

Aug 20 2019 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to renew a FEDOOP operating permit for Multi Packaging Solutions dba Westrock (printing operation), 1703 South Brook Street, Louisville, KY 40208, in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This is a standard FEDOOP renewal and name change. The 30-day public comment period starts on August 21, 2019, and ends on September 23, 2019. Aug 13 2019 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a construction permit to GE Appliances, A Haier Company (consumer appliance manufacturer), 4000 Buechel Bank Road, Louisville, 40031, in accordance with Regulation 2.03. The project is to remove the electric cure oven [U01-EP100B] and install a new natural gas-fired bake oven [U-01/EP-100B1] with two direct-fired burners rated at 3.5 MMBTU/hour each and a new natural gas infra-red catalytic sintering or gel oven [U-01/EP-100D] rated at 1.95 MMBTU/hour. The 30-day public comment period starts on August 15, 2019, and ends on September 16, 2019. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

Aug 1 2019 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

            The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to revise a FEDOOP operating permit for V.G. Reed & Sons, Inc. (lithographic printing and binding), 1002 South 12th Street, Louisville, KY 40210 in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This permit action removes the requirement to perform stack testing on VOC control devices. Also, this permit action removes the parts washer from the Insignificant Activity list and renamed IA3 emission unit to U3 emission unit, as this equipment is not an insignificant activity since it is not equipped with a secondary reservoir. This permit action additionally removes limits on greenhouse gases to comply with the U.S. Supreme Court’s June 2014 opinion in Utility Air Regulatory Group v. EPA.  The 30-day public comment period starts on August 2, 2019, and ends on September 2, 2019. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

Jul 16 2019 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to renew a FEDOOP operating permit to Whayne Supply Company (Caterpillar dealership from heavy machinery, to agribusiness, to on-highway trucks), 1440 Cecil Company, Louisville, KY 40211 in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This permit is being issued to renew the FEDOOP operating permit. The 30-day public comment period starts on July 17, 2019, and ends on August 16, 2019. The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to renew a FEDOOP operating permit for Rogers Group Inc. (limestone quarry), 13400 Old Henry Road, Louisville, KY 40223 in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This is a standard FEDOOP renewal, includes the addition of 3 conveyors (TC28, TC29 and TC6a) that were left out of 27662-14-F(R1) and the incorporation of construction permit C-0145-1000-19 for underground mining equipment. The 30-day public comment period starts on June 13, 2019, and ends on July 15, 2019. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

Jun 11 2019 Family Farm & Forage Day to be held Saturday, June 15 at Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing

A fun – and free – family event will take place on the banks of the Ohio River in southwest Louisville on Saturday, June 15th as Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing hosts “Family Farm and Forage Day” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will explore historic and present-day farming with a variety of activities, workshops, talks and booths for children and adults.

May 29 2019 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to renew a FEDOOP operating permit for Packaging Unlimited (cardboard box production), 1121 West Kentucky Street, Louisville, KY 40210 in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This is a standard FEDOOP renewal, incorporation of construction permit for new flexographic printing presses and cutters. The 30-day public comment period starts on May 30, 2019, and ends on July 01, 2019. The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to renew a FEDOOP operating permit for Smyrna Ready Mix Concrete, LLC (concrete batch plant), 1561 East Washington Street, Louisville, KY 40206 in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This is a standard FEDOOP renewal, ownership/name change and removal of greenhouse gas limits. The 30-day public comment period starts on May 30, 2019, and ends on July 01, 2019. May 1 2019 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue a construction permit to GE Appliances, A Haier Company (residential appliance manufacturer), 4000 Buechel Bank Road, Louisville, 40231, in accordance with Regulation 2.03. The project is to install a new drawing compound applicator and modify an existing drawing compound applicator. This equipment is used in conjunction with metal-forming equipment used to fabricate clothes dryer drums. The 30-day public comment period starts on May 2, 2019, and ends on June 3, 2019. Apr 17 2019 Yard waste start time changed

The volume of yard waste set out for collection by residents of Louisville’s Urban Services District has been very heavy since the April 1 start of yard waste collection season. The high volume has led to delayed or missed collections in some cases.

Apr 15 2019 Louisville ECHO: A West Louisville Outdoor Recreation Initiative

The Natural Areas Division of Louisville (Kentucky) Parks is increasing equitable access to nature through its Louisville Is Engaging Children Outdoors (Louisville ECHO) initiative. The department is addressing social determinants of health by expanding environmental education and outdoor recreation programming within underserved communities, including communities of color in west Louisville, and the program has expanded steadily since its inception in 2008.
