May 7 2018 14th annual Forest Fest coming to Jefferson Memorial Forest on Saturday, May 19

A spectacular day of Bluegrass and Americana music, food and beverages, craft vendors, and youth activities in a scenic environment awaits those who visit Jefferson Memorial Forest’s fourteenth annual Forest Fest on Saturday, May 19.  

Forest Fest has been known for providing a great variety of bluegrass music; this year’s event expands on that tradition with five musical acts in the lineup. The music starts at 11:30 a.m. in the forest’s Horine Section, 12408 Holsclaw Hill Road.

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue an operating permit to Clariant Corporation (Louisville West Plant), a catalysts manufacturing plant, 1227 South 12th Street, in accordance with Regulation 2.16. The 30-day public comment period starts on April 29, 2019, and ends on May 30, 2018. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07

Apr 25 2018 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to issue an operating permit for Kentucky Trailer (semi-tractor/trailer manufacturing), 7201 Logistics Drive, in accordance with Regulation 2.16. This is a standard permit renewal. The 30-day public comment period starts April 28, 2018, and ends on May 29, 2018.  A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

Apr 24 2018 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to revise an operating permit for Louisville Medical Center Steam Plant Company (Steam and chilled water services), 235 Abraham Flexner Way, in accordance with Regulation 2.16. This revision is to add requirements for the boilers as required by 40 CFR 63 Subpart DDDDD. The 30-day public comment period starts April 26, 2018 and ends on May 25, 2018. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has announced that Louisville is ranked 3rd on the list of top U.S. mid-size cities with the most ENERGY STAR certified buildings. Louisville ranked 7th last year and this year, ranks behind only San Jose and Virginia Beach. On the list of all U.S. metropolitan areas, Louisville ranks in the top 25.

Mayor Greg Fischer today unveiled eleven new propane powered mowers that have replaced worn out gasoline mowers. The propane mowers will run cleaner, cheaper and quieter than gasoline mowers.

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control Board will hold a public hearing on an Agreed Board Order with Hexion Inc. Hexion is alleged to have violated District Regulation 1.05 (Compliance with Emission Standards and Maintenance Requirements) District Regulation 1.07 (Excess Emissions during Startups, Shutdowns and Upset Conditions) and District Regulation 2.16 (Title V Operating Permits) at the facility located at 6200 Camp Ground Road in Jefferson County, Kentucky.

A new survey from the Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District is asking the public to weigh in on the District’s efforts to engage with and inform the community on air quality and the environment.
