Pay it Forward Explained
Pay It Forward is paying off for Metro Animal Services and its shelter pets. Hundreds of cats and dogs have been adopted into loving homes for Free since the program began! Pay It Forward relies on donations which allows MAS to waive adoption fees for certain cats and dogs. Below explains how the program works.

As people make preparations for Fourth of July celebrations, Louisville Metro Animal Services asks that you keep your pets in mind. Each year, pets across the country find their way into shelters during this festive time. While many look forward to the traditional celebratory sights and sounds of fireworks glowing and booming across the sky, this can be a scary experience for pets.

Donations Needed as Kitten Season Approaches
As the weather begins to grow warmer and the days, longer, female cats go into their heat cycle. The spring and summer months not only produce warmer temperatures, but hundreds upon hundreds of kittens across communities.
Several hundred of those kittens end up at Louisville Metro Animal Services. Caring for them requires a lot of attention and resources. Neonatal kittens need to be bottle fed every two hours. Sick kittens require around-the-clock care.

LMAS to Offer $10 Adoption Fees During Special
A $10 adoptions special will begin Tuesday, Dec. 27 and run through Saturday, Jan. 1. Stop by the Animal House Adoption Center (3516 Newburg Rd.) to take advantage of this deal, which was made possible through sponsorship by the Best Friends Animal Society. The goal is to get pets home for the holidays. Help us make that happen and adopt today! The normal adoption fee is $135-$150 for dogs and $50-$75 for cats.

Pet photos with Santa
Get in the pawliday spirit and let Santa pose for a picture with your pet! For the very first time, Louisville Metro Animal Services is offering pet photos with Santa to benefit its homeless shelter animals. ALL PROCEEDS go to them! For $15 you get a professional photo of your pet with Santa Paws. The photo will be printed on-the-spot. You will also be e-mailed a digital copy.

Mayor Greg Fischer announced today that the Center for Digital Government has again named Louisvilleky.gov, the official city website for Louisville Metro Government, as one of the top city websites in America.
The Best of the Web Awards recognize cities that constantly innovate, focus on services and work to improve the user experience. This is the eighth year the site has placed in the top 5 nationally.
