Mayor’s 2019 Give A Day Week breaks last year’s record with more than 235,000 volunteers and acts of compassion
With volunteers cleaning neighborhoods, donating bikes to refugees, building beds for local youth and collecting canned goods and personal care items, Mayor Greg Fischer’s eighth annual Give A Day Week of Service made a big impact on the city and amounted to more than 235,000 acts of volunteerism and compassion during the week that ended Saturday, April 20, 2019.

Give blood with the Red Cross during Mayor Fischer’s eighth annual Give A Day Week of Service
April is National Volunteer Month. The American Red Cross is teaming up with Mayor Greg Fischer to host a special blood drive during the eighth annual Mayor’s Give A Day Week of Service. The community is invited to take part in the inaugural Mayor’s Give A Day Blood Drive, Wednesday, April 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Kentucky International Convention Center, 221 S. 4th St. in Louisville.

Mayor Fischer honors Louisville's outstanding high school seniors
Mayor Greg Fischer today honored 50 public, private and Catholic students who have excelled in and out of the classroom with his annual Outstanding High School Seniors Award.
This year’s recipients include immigrants from Somalia, Kenya, Cuba and other countries, along with students who have overcome illness, personal struggles, disabilities and behavioral issues to achieve success.

Mayor Fischer rallies Louisville for 7th annual “Give A Day” Week of Service, April 14-22
Joined by representatives from local organizations and volunteer committees, Mayor Greg Fischer today announced plans for his 2018 Give A Day week of service.
This year’s Give A Day week is set for April 14-22, although the Mayor noted that many projects will be under way earlier, to avoid conflicts with Thunder over Louisville at the end of the week. Give A Day is an official Kentucky Derby Festival event, and kicks off the festival season.

Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement Announces Annual Worksite Wellness Award Winners
Bellarmine University Men’s Basketball Coach Scott Davenport; Dr. James Frazier, Norton Healthcare Vice-Resident of Medical Affairs and Dr. Sarah Moyer, medical director for the Department of Public Health and Wellness today presented the annual Mayor’s Healthy Hometown Movement Worksite Wellness Awards to 40 Louisville businesses and 10 businesses from other parts of the state.
