UofL basketball star Angel McCoughtry renovates Shively Park’s basketball court
Unveiling ceremony on Friday, June 17, kicks off the Juneteenth weekend celebrations
Louisville – Councilwoman Keisha Dorsey (D-3) is inviting the community to come celebrate the unveiling of a newly-renovated basketball court at Shively Park on Friday, June 17.
The renovations are thanks to professional basketball player Angel McCoughtry, who is known for being the all-time leading scorer and rebounder for the University of Louisville Women’s Basketball. On top of that, she’s appeared in five WNBA All-Star Games and won two Olympic gold medals.
With a passion for the sport, McCoughtry recently finished renovating the basketball court at Shively Park, which is the city of Shively’s only public park with an outdoor court. McCoughtry chose to refurbish this court, which is only about 10 minutes from UofL, after she visited her alma mater.
The community is welcome to attend the unveiling ceremony followed by a free cookout and give-a-ways on Friday, June 17. This event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will kick off the weekend Juneteenth celebrations.
