Southwest Council Members sponsor Town Hall meeting on the budget and pension situation for Louisville Metro
Louisville – The Southwest Metro Council members will sponsor a meeting for the public on Tuesday, March 5th at Valley High School Auditorium to give the community an overview of the budget deficit and pension situation. The meeting will begin at 6:30pm.
"We are dedicated to ensuring the residents of the Southwest have the needed information to understand the pension budget crisis and the effect this crisis could have on city services in the future," says Councilwoman Cindi Fowler (D-14).
“Democracy works best when people have the opportunity to make their voice heard. I appreciate every constituent that has contacted my office with their opinions, questions and suggestions regarding the budget concerns over the looming pension cost to our city,” says Councilman David Yates (D-25). “It is my intent for this meeting to serve as our opportunity, as elected officials, to reach out to the people and provide them the platform to publicly ask questions, make suggestions and be heard.”
Joining Fowler and Yates as sponsors of the meeting are Council Members Rick Blackwell (D-12) and Mark Fox (D-13).
“I have heard from many constituents in the past weeks and value their input and suggestions as the Council considers this budget matter,” says Blackwell. “These public meetings are a constructive way to speak with constituents and have a fact-based discussion about our options.”
“I am remaining open to all options but want to hear the voices of those that I represent. It is important for everyone to understand; no decision has been made and no vote has been cast,” says Fox.
The four Council Members have invited Daniel Frockt, Chief Financial Officer for Metro Government to attend and answer questions about what the city is facing and what is being proposed as a response to the pension crisis.
Valley High School is located at 10200 Dixie Highway.
