The Software Guild Celebrates New Louisville Location
Marking the expansion of its Louisville location, The Software Guild, a 12-week coding bootcamp which teaches .NET and Java skills, held a ribbon cutting ceremony today in celebration of its new office space. This addition to The Software Guild’s instructional space for students is on its recently opened location, which just began offering classes in September. The expansion of its site shows a commitment to training and retaining technologically savvy talent in the Louisville region.
“We are excited to see The Software Guild expand its offices to provide tech training to meet the growing demand of both employers and individuals,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “This program demonstrates Louisville’s commitment to the Tech Hire initiative and I look forward to seeing the innovators of tomorrow grow and thrive in our city.”
City officials, local potential employers and employees from The Software Guild and its Louisville-based parent company, The Learning House, Inc., were on-hand to celebrate the expansion of the coding program. Louisville is one of 20 communities nationwide identified to connect more Americans with well-paying technology jobs as part of President Barack Obama’s TechHire initiative. The Software Guild is an example of communities working together with future employers to expand access to tech jobs through traditional and nontraditional education – such as coding bootcamps.
“We are so thrilled to be able to expand our footprint in Louisville. We now have great classrooms for students and a space for full-time employees to work and continue to grow The Software Guild. Working closely with our colleagues at The Learning House, Inc., we will continue to collaborate with the local community and employers to expand access to the growing tech industry and enhance our students’ careers,” said Eric Wise, chief academic officer of The Software Guild.
The Software Guild announced the addition of its Louisville location earlier this year, making it the coding school’s third location. Currently, 10 students are enrolled in Louisville’s first cohort. Classes are also taught in Akron, Ohio and Minneapolis, Minn. In 2016. The Software Guild will offer coursework online, with limited in-class experience.
The Software Guild is sharing space with Code Louisville as a part of the TechHire Initiative.
