The Seasonal Celebration of “Light Up Newburg” set for Petersburg Park

December 5, 2014

Louisville – Metro Louisville continues to welcome in the holiday season and Newburg-Petersburg Park is preparing to throw the festive switch for “Light Up Newburg”, on Saturday, December 13th.

“Newburg - Petersburg Park has a wonderful holiday feel every year with this event and I want everyone in the Newburg, Norfolk and all areas of District 2 to come out and help us celebrate the joy of the season,” says Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) who is sponsoring this event.

“Light Up Newburg” will be held from 6:00P.M. to 8:00 P. M. at Newburg-Petersburg Park located at the corner of East Indian Trail and Petersburg Roads.

Santa Claus will be on hand to hear children’s holiday wishes for Christmas. There will be holiday music and refreshments provided.

“This is the time of year when the hustle and bustle is just getting underway and it can be hectic. We have music and fun planned as a way to combat the hectic times of the holiday,” says Shanklin. “We also want to bring some cheer to children in our area which is another way to enjoy the beauty of the season.”

In the event of inclement weather, the holiday fun will be moved inside the Newburg Community Center.
