Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing hosting Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social & Monarch Anniversary Concert July 11
Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, Louisville Parks and Recreation and The Friends of the Farnsley-Kaufman House will host an Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social Concert on Sunday, July 11 featuring the legendary local band The Monarchs.
The Monarchs are celebrating their astonishing 60th anniversary as a band during 2021. Known as “Louisville’s Musical Ambassadors,” The Monarchs have performed thousands of shows over the past five decades from coast to coast and have appeared with Del Shannon, Jay and the Americans, the Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, Bo Diddley, Johnny Tillotson and Dee Dee Sharp.
The concert and Ice Cream Social will take place at Riverside, 7410 Moorman Road. The event runs from 1-5 p.m. with the concert beginning at 2 p.m. Concessions will be provided by Ehrler’s Ice Cream, The Celtic Pig, and Hot Diggity Dog. Outdoor games will also be set up for the kids to enjoy. “We’ve come out of COVID and are thrilled to welcome people back to this longstanding tradition at Riverside,” said Patti Linn, Riverside site manager. “It’s going to be a great day of family entertainment.”
Louisville Water Pure Tap will also be on site, and patrons are encouraged to bring a refillable water bottle. In addition, individuals may bring their own lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and pop-up tents (no larger than 10’ x 10’).
Coolers, alcohol, and pets are prohibited, with the exception of service animals.
Tickets are required and can be purchased here. A $10 donation per person is suggested, and while you are welcome to purchase more than one ticket, donation-based tickets must be purchased one at a time. Proceeds will go to benefit the historic preservation and restoration of Riverside, the Farnsley-Moremen Landing, and The Farnsley-Kaufman House.
