Public Safety Committee to discuss the working arrangements between Louisville Fire and Rescue and Suburban Fire Departments

August 13, 2019

Louisville – The Public Safety Committee of the Louisville Metro Council will have a special discussion on the working relationship between Louisville Fire and Rescue and the Suburban Fire Departments in Jefferson County.

“After the recent situation in St. Matthews involving a fire at a Shopping Center, I believe it is important that the committee be updated on how these departments are interacting when it comes to public safety. It is an ongoing discussion that we need to have to understand everyone’s role in protecting the public,” says Councilwoman Jessica Green (D-1), who chairs the Committee.

Councilwoman Green has invited Chief Greg Frederick of Louisville Fire and Rescue, Jeff Taylor vice president of Louisville Professional Firefighters Local #345 and Jody Meiman and Mitchell Burmeister of the Metro Emergency Management Agency for the discussion. Joining them will be Chief Adam Jones of the Buechel Fire Department.

The Public Safety Committee will meet at 3:30pm in Council Chambers, Historic City Hall, 601 West Jefferson Street.

The meeting will be carried live on Metro TV, Spectrum Cable Channel 184 or on UVERSE at Channel 99.
