President James announces Historic City Hall Clock will shine blue in honor of fallen LMPD Detective

December 26, 2018

Louisville – President David James (D-6) has announced the Historic City Hall Clock will shine in the color blue beginning today and until funeral services are held in honor of Detective Diedre Mengedoht of the LMPD 2nd Division.

“Detective Mengedoht was a dedicated public servant to our city and we ask the community to come together and when they look at the City Hall Clock take note of her service and dedication,” said President James. “It is the Metro Council’s hope that as the Clock’s blue light shines, it reminds us that we lost a hero in our community and show our support and prayers for her family and all the men and women who serve to protect us.”

A seven year veteran of the LMPD, Detective Mengedoht was killed on Christmas Eve during a routine traffic stop on I-64.

Over the years, the City Hall Clock has changed colors to highlight the holiday season, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and moments of solidarity with cities and countries in times of tragedy.
