Louisville – Join in an outdoor celebration of blues and the arts at the 27th Annual Garvin Gate Blues Festival on Saturday, October 8. This is a free arts and music event featuring national and local performances. The festival is located at Oak Street and Garvin Place, between 4th and 6th Streets in historic Old Louisville.  In addition to live music and entertainment, there will also be a variety of food and drink vendors.

“I’m excited to have the Garvin Gate Blues Festival back in Old Louisville, so our city can come together and enjoy some great Blues, for free,” says Metro Council President David James (D-6). “I invite everyone to come out on October 8th to enjoy this awesome Blues Festival.”

The headliners this year include Stella Vees, Ben Levin Trio and Sheryl Rouse & The Bluez Brothers. Music is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM.

“The Garvin Gate Blues Festival is about more than blues music,” says Howard Rosenburg, Executive Director of St. James Court Art Show. “People from all over come to “The Gate” to experience an Old Louisville tradition unlike any other. We're bringing the community together, and we couldn’t be more excited to return this October.”

About the Garvin Gate Blues Festival

The Festival grew from outdoor jam sessions in the parking lot of the Rudyard Kipling in 1988. The music became popular, and the neighborhood wanted to expand the event. At the same time, the Garvin Gate Association enlarged their boundaries and reformed as the Garvin Gate Neighborhood Association. They were looking to host an annual event, and the partnership was created. Now 27 years strong, the festival attracts a multiracial and intergeneration audience.
