Oct 16 2019 Councilwoman Dorsey praises Green Heart Project as way to restore Louisville’s tree canopy and improve community health

At 1000 Stanley Avenue this week, the first of thousands of trees was planted as part of a major health study to determine the impact of green foliage on the community’s health. Councilwoman Keisha Dorsey (D-3) was on hand for the first tree planted as part of the Green Heart Project, a program being conducted by the University of Louisville Environment Institute and The Nature Conservancy.

Oct 16 2019 Air Pollution Control District Proposed Permit

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control District (District) proposes to renew a FEDOOP operating permit to Indratech (manufactures non-woven textile matting for automotive and acoustical applications), 2801 Constant Comment Place, Louisville, KY 40299 in accordance with Regulation 2.17. This permit is being issued to renew the FEDOOP operating permit. The 30-day public comment period starts on October 17, 2019, and ends on November 18, 2019. A public hearing may be scheduled if the District determines that there are germane, unresolved issues or substantial public interest, in accordance with Regulation 2.07.

Oct 15 2019 Free paper shredding and drug toss event

Louisville residents are invited to bring unneeded documents to be shredded and prescription drugs to be disposed of at a free event on November 2, 2019. The paper shredding and drug toss event is a joint operation of Louisville Metro Public Works and Louisville Metro Police.

One organization works with the Metro Council and other agencies to find ways to address the problem. Open Caribbean Kitchen owner Ernst Pierre today opened his new restaurant, located at 4735 Poplar Level Road, Suite 1. Open Caribbean Kitchen serves a variety of Caribbean food, including Haitian, Dominican, and Trinidadian.

Oct 11 2019 Proposed Amended Board Order and site-specific Reasonably Available Control Technology (RACT) Plan

The Louisville Metro Air Pollution Control Board opens a public comment period October 11, 2019, on an amended Board Order and site-specific Reasonably Available Control Technology (RACT) Plan for American Synthetic Rubber Company, 4500 Camp Ground Road, Louisville, Kentucky 40216. If approved, the District will submit the determination to EPA for inclusion in the Kentucky State Implementation Plan.
