Neighborhood Place partners host a Summer Opportunity Resource Fair, Prom Dress Collection, and much more

Neighborhood Place partners will host events to benefit the entire family in March including the annual Summer Opportunities And Resource Fair, a collection of prom dress and accessories for the 8th Annual Butterfly Effect Prom Event, the Fifth Third Bank Financial Empowerment Mobile at two locations, and much more. March 2 and 10, National Processing Center (NPC) Hiring Event at NorthWest Neighborhood Place, 10 a.m. – 12 noon
Located at 4018 W. Market St.  National Processing Center (NPC) is the U.S. Census Bureau's primary center for mail processing, survey processing, data capture, imaging/scanning and warehouse operations. A U.S. Census Bureau’s representative will be available to share information about the hundreds of entry-level Office & Warehouse Clerks employment opportunities for the Jeffersonville location. NPC recently increased the starting hourly pay rate for entry level clerks to $14.54 per hour.

A community engagement representative is onsite to answer any questions that Passport members have regarding their plan, benefits and updates on the upcoming waiver.

March 5, Sodexo Hiring Opportunities at First Neighborhood Place, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Located at 1503 Rangeland Road (T.J. Middle School in the W.D. Bruce Building – door #24).  Call 313-4700 for more information. Sodexo, a food-service agency, will provide on-the-spot interviews for positions with Jewish Hospital, Our Lady of Peace and University of Louisville Hospital. The class will include a range of information and resources, as well as free baby items, gift cards, prizes, and snacks. Hosted by Seven Counties and KIDSNow. March 12, Develop Louisville on the GO – Evening Community Meeting at NorthWest Neighborhood Place, 5:30 – 7 p.m.

March 13 and 20, Youth Mental Health First Aid Training at NorthWest Neighborhood Place, 12:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The Youth Mental Health First Aid Training will teach attendees how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders in youth including suicidal situations.  This course will teach how to apply the ALGEE action plan.  Both dates are required for certification

March 18, JenCare Senior Medical Center to Discuss Heart Healthy Tips for Seniors at South Jefferson Neighborhood Place, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

March 25, 8th Annual Butterfly Effect Prom Event at NorthWest Neighborhood Place, 3 – 5:30 p.m.

Market St.  Call 313-4892 for more information.  Prom is an exciting yet expensive time for many community families.  The Butterfly Effect Prom Event will help match donated dresses, shoes and accessories with students in need of assistance.  All donations of prom attire (dresses, shoes, accessories such as bags and jewelry), restaurant gift cards and hygiene items are greatly appreciated and  are being collected through March 20.  Sponsored by NorthWest Neighborhood Place, JCPS Student Support Services and the Family Youth Resource Center at the Academy of Shawnee.

March 25, 2024 Consolidated Plan Public Meeting at Ujima Neighborhood Place, 6 p.m.

Ave.  Contact [email protected] or 574-4608 for more information.  Louisville Metro Develop Louisville will host this public meeting to share ideas about the Consolidated Plan and gather community input about how residents would like to see these funds spent. The Consolidated Plan is Develop Louisville’s five-year plan for how to spend federal community investment dollars include HOME, CDBG, HOPWA, and ESG.  These funds can be used for affordable housing, community development, public services, and other community needs.
