Metro Government recognized with top financial reporting award for ninth consecutive year

December 5, 2019

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) has awarded Louisville Metro Government the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the ninth year in a row.

The certificate represents the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.  It recognizes that the city’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) exceeds reporting requirements to deliver financial reports that “evidence the spirit of transparency and full disclosure” and provide users the necessary information to assess the financial health of governments for themselves.

“Louisville Metro Government continues to receive external validation that we are a well-run organization. GFOA recognizing Metro’s fiscal integrity and transparency for nine years in a row is just one more example of our consistent excellence,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “I would like to extend a special thanks to our Director of Finance, Monica Harmon, and her entire team of professionals who worked so diligently to prepare this report which serves our residents and builds trust in the strength of our government.”

Chief Financial Officer Daniel Frockt added: “The Office of Management & Budget (OMB) is honored to receive this distinction. It demonstrates our commitment to the values of teamwork, transparency, and integrity that are encompassed throughout Metro government thanks to Mayor Fischer’s leadership.”

The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving over 20,000 government finance professionals in North America.
