Metro Council members will host fall community cleanups

Louisville (October 5, 2023) – The fall is upon us and there are several upcoming opportunities for you to get involved and help clean up the community, while also enjoying this beautiful weather!

Several Majority Caucus members are encouraging the community to participate in district specific community cleanups, the first on Saturday, October 7, and the rest on Saturday, October 21.

Saturday, October 7, 2023

Councilwoman Betsy Ruhe D-21
City of Lynnview Community Cleanup
Time: 9:00 a.m. - Noon

Volunteers should meet at 9:00 a.m. at Lynnview City Hall, located at 1241 Gilmore Lane. Volunteers will be provided with gloves and bags. Donuts, coffee, and juice will also be available for volunteers. For more information, please contact Councilwoman Ruhe’s office at 574-1121.

 

Saturday, October 21, 2023

Councilman Phillip Baker – D6
Time: 8:30 a.m. - Noon

Volunteers should meet at the Old Louisville Visitor’s Center, located at 1340 S. Fourth Street, at 8:30 a.m. Volunteers will work to cleanup and beautify Central Park. At Noon, volunteers will receive lunch provided by District 6. For more information, please contact Councilman Baker’s office at 574-1106.

 

Councilman Ben Reno-Weber D-8
Middle Fork Beargrass Creek Cleanup
Time: 9:00 a.m. to Noon

Volunteers should meet at the Big Rock Pavilion in Cherokee Park, 2191 Park Boundary Road, at 9:00 a.m. to pick up trash along Middle Fork Beargrass Creek. Time: 10:00 a.m. to Noon

Volunteers will meet at the public parking lot at Frankfort & Keats Avenues, near Con Huevos. Volunteers will be provided bags, gloves, and tools on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, please contact Councilman Owen’s office at 574-1109.

South Fork Beargrass Creek Cleanup
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Volunteers should meet in the St. Xavier High School tennis court parking lot, 1609 Poplar Level Road, at 10:00 a.m. to pick up trash along South Fork Beargrass Creek. Time: 9:00 a.m.

Volunteers will meet at Walmart, located at 3706 Diann Marie Road, to clean portions of Chamberlain Lane and Westport Road. Bags, gloves, and grabbers will be provided. For more information, please contact Councilman Winker’s office at 574-1117.

If your district isn’t hosting a cleanup, you may sign up to host your own neighborhood cleanup through the Brightside website: https://louisvilleky.gov/government/brightside/brightside-community-wide-cleanup, or by calling (502) 574-2613. Individuals or organizations can host neighborhood cleanups anytime of the year. Brightside can provide gloves, trash bags, and a limited number of tools.
