Mayor Fischer Names Gabriel Fritz Director of Housing and Community Development
Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer today named Gabriel Fritz as the Director of the Office of Housing and Community Development.
“Gabe’s progressive approach to housing and proven leadership will ensure that we continue to achieve our goals – and set even more aggressive ones,” Mayor Greg Fischer said. “He has experience in both private and non-profit housing development and understands the unique needs of both.”
Fritz joins Louisville Metro Government after spending the last six years with The Housing Partnership, Inc., which works to create, sustain, and promote access to affordable housing throughout the Louisville community. Fritz began his career with HPI as a Project Manager and most recently, held the position of Director of Housing and Resources. From 2003 to 2007 he worked as the Director of Marketing and Development for Allstate Builders, Inc. where he coordinated and managed a sixty-nine lot subdivision development from concept to permitting and sales.
As the Director of Housing and Community Development, Fritz will oversee Louisville Metro Government’s affordable housing initiative, Louisville CARES, a pilot project put in place to help address the need for affordable housing for low-income, working households. Fritz will partner with Laura Grabowski, Assistant Director of Housing and Community Development, to carry out the current and future goals of the department.
Fritz earned his Bachelor of Arts in Geo Social Theory with a minor in Urban and Regional Social Theory from the University of Louisville. He currently serves on the board of YouthBuild Louisville and is a member of the University of Louisville Hospital Care Advisory Board.
“I can’t wait to get to work, and be a part of the Housing and Community Development team,” said Fritz. “We have an opportunity to do great work for the citizens of Louisville and from day one my goal will be to move the citizens of Louisville forward and beyond current standards.”
Fritz will begin his new role August 17.
