Mayor Fischer interviews longtime Courier-Journal reporter Sheldon Shafer in latest podcast episode
In the latest episode of his podcast, Mayor Greg Fischer turns the journalism table and interviews Sheldon Shafer, who is retiring from The Courier-Journal after 45 years.
Shafer began working for The Courier-Journal in 1973 and covered many city-changing events, including construction of the Kentucky Center for the Arts, Waterfront Park and city-county merger. Shafer discusses the big news stories and personalities during his journalism career, the city’s evolution — and shares a bad joke or two.
“Sheldon Shafer is an iconic Louisville journalist who has been an eyewitness to many of the big events of the past 45 years in our community,” Mayor Fischer said. “I’m glad he could take time to join me to reflect on his career and the changes our city has undergone.”
The Mayor Greg Fischer Podcast launched in August as a way for the Mayor to engage in in-depth, longer discussions about key development and challenges in the city. New episodes are released about every other week.
