Louisville Parks and Recreation is currently monitoring river conditions leading up to Thunder Over Louisville on Saturday

Louisville Parks and Recreation is currently monitoring river conditions leading up to Thunder Over Louisville on Saturday.

Currently, the boat ramp at Carrie Gaulbert Cox Park is closed and is unlikely to be opened prior to Saturday. Additionally, the parking area east of the boat ramp and restroom facility is also currently closed and will be unavailable to access on Saturday.

Those wishing to access Cox and Eva Bandman parks for Thunder Over Louisville should also be aware that due to high water and projected rainfall conditions portions of both are under water. If the water were to recede by Saturday, visitors to both parks will find muddy and treacherous conditions to operate vehicles in. Also, there is no overnight camping allowed in either site.

Additionally, the boat ramps at Shawnee and Riverview parks also remain closed.

We’ll continue to keep you up to date about conditions in our riverfront parks. We want you and your families to be able to plan ahead and for you to have the opportunity to enjoy the day’s activities safely.
