Louisville Parks and Recreation Announces the Reopening of 3 Public Pools

May 24, 2021

It’s time to make a splash! Louisville Parks and Recreation will welcome guests back to three public swimming pools beginning Saturday, May 29. Algonquin, Fairdale, and Sun Valley outdoor pools will all begin operation at noon this Saturday and will follow a set schedule through the summer.

Pools will be operating at 75 percent of normal capacity until June 11, when capacity limits will return to pre-COVID levels. Advanced reservations are not needed, but once pools reach capacity limits guests will be unable to enter the pool area.

All current COVID guidelines must be followed. Patrons should continue to protect themselves and others in and out of the water by practicing social distancing and good hand hygiene. There will be no furniture allowed on the pool decks to encourage social distancing.

Additionally, spraygrounds and spraypads managed by Louisville Parks and Recreation are open and provide the perfect way to cool off on a hot, sunny day. All spraygrounds and spraypads are open from dawn to dusk, unless notified otherwise. For a full list of locations, please click here.

“We’re excited to provide opportunities for the community to stay cool this summer,” said Parks and Recreation Director Dana Kasler. “We would like to thank our staff for their hard work in making this possible and hope this announcement makes summer more enjoyable for everyone.”
