With the support of sponsors, local basketball legend Robbie Valentine will host a free 4-day youth basketball camp at the KFC YUM! Center. During this free camp geared toward boys and girls of all skill levels, youth will learn the fundamentals of basketball as well as the principals of teamwork and individual responsibility.

“I’m exceptionally excited to partner with Mayor Greg Fischer and Louisville Parks and Recreation to connect with youth after the long year they endured during the global pandemic,” said Valentine, a member of the University of Louisville athletics Hall of Fame and member of the 1986 national championship team at UofL. “Kids have been learning from home, missing athletic seasons, and some have faced economic hardships. My hope is that my camp brings them structure and a safe place to learn the game we all love.”

In addition to learning fundamentals of basketball, guest speakers will be in attendance to stress the importance of education and its connection to success.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer a free basketball camp to youth in the community in partnership with Robbie Valentine. A huge thank you to all of the sponsors for making this important program possible,” said Mayor Greg Fischer.

The sports camp will take place June 28 – July 1 from 5 – 8 p.m. and is open to 125 students ages 5-14. To register, click here or visit bestparkever.com and click on “Robbie Valentine Sports camp” in the green box. Participants are encouraged to wear proper basketball attire.
