Locust Grove announces new winter hours and offerings
In light of Governor Beshear’s recent recommendations for red-zone counties, and the importance of keeping our visitors, volunteers, and staff healthy and safe, Locust Grove has made changes to hours and offerings heading into the winter months. Beginning November 1, the Locust Grove Visitors’ Center, Museum Store, and Museum Gallery will be open Thursdays – Saturdays 10:00 am – 4:30 pm. The cost for the gallery admission is $6 for adults.
Grounds tours will be offered through December 23, weather permitting, and virtual tours will be offered during the winter months, but the historic house will be closed to guests.
In-person Grounds tour reservations will be taken online at www.locustgrove.org for outside grounds tours on Thursdays/Fridays/Saturdays at 11:00 am. Walk-ins for the grounds tour will also be accepted as space and weather permits. The grounds tour includes a comprehensive history of the site, and viewing the site outbuildings. The grounds tour is $12 for adults, $10 for adults over 65, $6 for children 6 – 18, and free for under 6. Live Virtual Tours will be scheduled for Tuesdays at 11:00 am online for $8. Tickets for virtual tours and grounds tours may be purchased online at www.locustgrove.org. Virtual Family Field Trips may be scheduled with Director of Education and Family Programs Kaitlyn Tisdale at [email protected].
Locust Grove will continue to offer online virtual lectures and programs throughout the winter, and some on-site events when possible. A full calendar of events may be found at www.locustgrove.org.
The buildings at Locust Grove will be closed to the public entirely December 24, 2020 – March 2, 2021 to accommodate construction of new facilities. Staff will still hold office hours during this time.
