LMAS Joins KHS in Offering $5 Cat Adoptions Every Friday in June
LOUISVILLE KY – To celebrate Adopt a Shelter Cat month, the Kentucky Humane Society (KHS) and Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) are joining together to offer $5 Feline Fridays in June. Adoptions for adult cats will be just $5 on June 5, 12, 19 and 26.
The $5 Feline Fridays adoption special is designed to help cats age one year or older find great homes faster.
“We are in the middle of ‘kitten season,’ with hundreds kittens who were born this spring coming into Louisville’s shelters ready for adoption,” says Andrea Blair, KHS spokesperson. “This time of year can be particularly difficult for adult cats looking for homes, as it is hard for them to compete with fluffy kittens.”
But there are many advantages to adopting an older cat, according to Jessica Montgomery with LMAS.
With an adult cat you have a better idea of their personality.
* Adult cats are lower maintenance—they need little monitoring and are experts in long cat naps.
* Many adult cats came from previous homes and are usually well versed at being good pets.
* Adult cats get into less mischief, and you do not need to "kitten-proof" your home.
The $5 adoption special takes place at nine permanent KHS adoption locations, including seven Feeders Supply stores, as well as LMAS Animal House and the PetSmarts on Hurstbourne Lane and Outer Loop. In addition to the $5 adoption fee, residents in Jefferson County must pay licensing fees. Adoption is pending approval of an application process that usually takes an hour or less. The adoption special runs June 5, 12, 19 and 26 only.
