LIHEAP, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, is a federally-funded program that provides financial assistance to help eligible, low-income households meet their home heating needs. LIHEAP vendors are defined as any business that supplies energy, such as rental facilities where utilities are included in the rent, or provides home heating fuel to individuals applying for the LIHEAP program. Examples of home heating fuel include oil, kerosene, propane, bottled gas, wood, electric or natural gas.

Vendor paperwork will provide information about changes in the LIHEAP program this year and the LIHEAP staff members are happy to address any questions. Vendors that participated in the 2015-2016 program should receive a packet in the mail to update records for this year’s participation.

The Subsidy Phase of LIHEAP begins Nov. 1 and ends Dec. 9.  Pre-enrollment began on Oct. 3 for those residents who are on a fixed income and who are disabled or elderly. Please contact Janet Moncada or (502) 574-6122, or visit for more information.
