Jefferson Memorial Forest Plans ‘Double Hike’ Day

December 11, 2014

Experience the beauty of a wintery landscape at Jefferson Memorial Forest on Saturday, December 20, when free guided hikes will be offered both morning and evening. All ages are welcome and each hike will begin and end around a warm fire at the forest’s Welcome Center, 11311 Mitchell Hill Road.

The first hike starts at 9 a.m. with hikers themselves choosing the trail the group will follow that morning, based on weather and trail conditions.

The evening hike begins at 5:30 p.m. with hikers exploring the 2-mile-long Yost Ridge Trail after dark, and enjoying a view of the city lights from atop the hill. This hike is considered moderately strenuous.
