Howl-O-Ween Adoption Special

October 31, 2014

Celebrate “Howl-O-Ween” with the Kentucky Humane Society and Louisville Metro Animal Services by adopting a pet. The two agencies are joining together to offer “spook-tacular” savings: adoption fees are just $10 for cats and $31 for dogs age five months and older Wednesday-Saturday, Oct. 29–Nov. 1.

“The Howl-o-ween adoption special has become a popular annual event, and adopters really look forward to it,” said Andrea Blair, KHS spokesperson. “Children are encouraged to dress in costume (though nothing scary that could frighten the animals) and come meet their newest family member at either a Kentucky Humane Society or Louisville Metro Animal Services pet adoption site.”

The Louisville adoption sites include LMAS’ Animal House at 3516 Newburg Road, the KHS Main Campus on Steedly Drive, the KHS East Campus adjacent to Westport Village, and seven Feeders Supply adoption sites (Fern Creek, Hikes Point, Preston Highway, Springhurst, St. Matthews, Dixie Highway and Clarksville, Ind.).

All pets adopted from KHS and LMAS have been spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and given worm, flea and tick preventatives – services which are valued at nearly $300.

Adoption is pending approval of an application process that usually takes about an hour. The adoption special runs Oct. 29–Nov. 1 only. Legacy Pets at KHS are excluded from this special. Jefferson County residents are responsible for paying pet licensing fees.

The ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) selected Louisville as its 2013 Partner Community. The three partner organizations—KHS, LMAS and Alley Cat Advocates, are working together to save more animal lives. The KHS and LMAS joint adoption promotion is an effort to get more pets in the community adopted into loving homes.
