Hollander and LABC offer FREE tax preparation on Fridays in District 9
Louisville – Councilman Bill Hollander and United Crescent Hill Ministries will once again partner with the Louisville Asset Building Coalition (LABC) to bring four special Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) mobile tax assistance clinics on Fridays in District 9 in February and March.
“This will be our fifth year for District 9 to assist LABC in helping low income and senior citizens in the district with a free service for those who qualify,” says Hollander. “These mobile operations have been a great help to many people over the years and that is why we are offering that assistance again.”
Four VITA mobile events will be held at United Crescent Hill Ministries (UCHM), 150 S. State Street on the following Fridays; February 6th, February 20th, March 6th and March 20th from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm by appointment only.
Volunteers will provide FREE tax preparation for individuals and families who have $58,000 or less in Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) per year. If you received income from the sale of your home, own rental property OR received $10,000 in cash in self-employment and $5,000 in expenses you are not eligible for this FREE tax service.
“The goal of this program is to not only help low income families but to return money to our community and I want to thank all the VITA volunteers who are helping us out this year.” says Hollander.
While the mobile VITA operations are located in District 9, they are open to anyone who qualifies.
The Friday FREE tax preparation in February and March will be offered by appointment only – please contact Councilman Bill Hollander’s office at 574-1109 to make an appointment.
Do you like to self-file your taxes? If you made less than $31,000 in AGI you may be eligible to use Turbo Tax Freedom Edition or if you made less than $53,500 in AGI you may be eligible to use H&R Block to self-file.
