The Grady Hotel opens today in Louisville
The Grady Hotel, developed by Vision Hospitality Group and operated by Humanist Hospitality, a division of Vision, opens today in Louisville. Located in the downtown Market District at the corner of West Main Street and North Sixth Street, The Grady is a renovated 19th-century historic building. The 51-key luxury hotel is a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World™, a community of the world’s most desirable luxury hotels that offer exclusivity and one-of-a-kind experiences.
“With the onset of warmer weather and increasing vaccination numbers, Louisville is welcoming the return of tourism to our city – an industry that prior to the pandemic brought 19 million visitors to our doors and generated an estimated $3.5 billion in economic impact,” said Mayor Greg Fischer. “Visitors coming to Louisville today will find new amenities and hotels, such as The Grady Hotel, that will make their experience here unique whether they are visiting for the first time or the fifth. We are excited to welcome the modern, luxury downtown boutique hotel to our growing list of first-class accommodations.”
The Grady is a historic gem steeped in the spirit of Louisville, offering luxe accommodations and provisions to guests and locals alike, ideally located near notable Louisville attractions - Muhammed Ali Center, Frazier History Museum, Louisville Slugger Museum - neighborhood hidden gems and distillery row.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled to debut in Bourbon City,” said Laurent Géroli, general manager of The Grady. “The Grady represents the true spirit of Louisville, and embraces the history of the building through its design. We provide locals and guests with a sense of belonging and celebration.”
Commissioned in the late 1800s by pharmacist J.B Wilder, the original building housed a medicinal bourbon apothecary. The Grady celebrates the history of Louisville by honoring the traditions of the city while redefining modern opulence. Throughout the hotel, guests will find hidden surprises and good luck charms, inviting them to see The Grady through the eyes of a child. Guests will discover horseshoes to remind them of the city’s racing heritage and shamrocks, a symbol representing The Greatest - Louisville’s very own Muhammad Ali. Grady Green, a lush and luxurious jade, the hotel’s signature color, a symbol of serenity, harmony, and balance, can be found throughout the hotel representing the idea of belonging and comfort.
“The Grady is a special project for Vision, and we are excited to see how this restored, historic building tells its story to all who step inside,” said Mitch Patel, Vision Hospitality Group President & CEO. “The Grady represents Louisville’s one-of-a-kind spirit and welcomes both locals and guests to experience its refined comfort and cordial service.”
The hotel’s sophisticated design features displays of patina metals and smooth, dark textures that tell the story of Louisville’s bourbon heritage. Throughout the hotel are hints of lush green to represent the City of Parks and the outdoors. Each of the 51 guest rooms provides pops of navy, copper, and maroon, featuring 10-15’ original reclaimed wood ceilings, tufted headboards, and an array of locally-inspired art. The hotel’s public spaces also feature warm and inviting tones, complete with a library area, art gallery, and a central fireplace for guests to gather.
Opening early June, an intimate cocktail bar, Wild Swann exudes modern, southern elegance and rich heritage. Guests will find themselves immersed in a world of hand-crafted beverages, fastidious service, and delicious small plates. Wild Swann will be open Sunday through Thursday 3 to 11 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 3 p.m. to midnight.
