You can make a difference in the lives of the animals our community
Recently, Louisville Metro Animal Services (LMAS) took in nearly 80 animals from a local hoarding case. Most of the animals, 66 dogs and 12 cats, were in poor condition and not well socialized.
Currently over 400 animals are housed at LMAS. We are working with the Lexington Humane Society and the Oldham County Animal Shelter to make room at the Louisville shelter for the animals that came from this one hoarding case. We are also bringing in the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to help perform behavior assessments to help get these animals adopted as soon as possible.
We are asking you for help. We desperately need the following:
- Paper towels
- Blankets, towels
- Unopened cat/dog food
- Dog/cat toys
- New or gently used heating pads
- Pet store gift cards
All of this and more will go to the care of the animals in our care including those that came from the recent hoarding case. Donations are coming in from all over North America including Canada. All items will go to care for and support the animals of LMAS including those from the recent hoarding case.
We are extremely grateful for all donations and thank you in advance for helping the animals in our community.
