Councilwoman Welch will join Metro Public Works for official groundbreaking of the Mason Lane Bridge Project
Louisville – Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13) and Metro Public Works will officially break ground this Friday on a project designed to ensure drivers between Mason Lane and West Manslick Road will have a safe roadway in which to drive.
“This ground breaking officially begins a process of replacing a structurally deficient single lane bridge with a new two lane structure,” says Welch. “This bridge is the only access for the people who live in the area along Mason Lane going to West Manslick Road and the time to replace this bridge is long overdue.
The ground breaking will take place at 1:30pm on Friday, March 27th. The bridge is located about 500 feet southwest of West Manslick Road Intersection in District 13.
Construction was set to begin in February but was delayed as a result of snow and freezing temperatures. The new bridge span will be 21 feet long and construction should be completed in six to eight weeks.
“Once again, I want to ask everyone to be patient as this construction gets underway,” says Welch. “In the end, we will have completed a new structure that will be safe for all who travel on this bridge.”
The project cost is $319,800.
