Councilwoman Shanklin announces free used furniture available to flood or fire victims, and those in need this Friday and Saturday
Louisville – Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2) announces there will be a giveaway of free used furniture for those who have been affected by flooding or fire damage in the last two months.
“With the help of the owners of the Galt House and the Crowne Plaza Hotel, there will be a free giveaway of used furniture from both hotels to those who are in need because of flooding or fire, and anyone who is in need,” said Councilwoman Barbara Shanklin (D-2). “Mrs. Mary Moseley of the Galt house contacted me as a way of helping out those people who have been affected and may have lost everything. I want to thank her for helping out many people in our community.”
More than 150 rooms of used furniture to be given away on two days. The first is Friday, June 5, 2015 from 10:30am to 5:00pm and then on Saturday, June 6, 2015 from 10:30am to 2:00pm at the Newburg Community Center Parking Lot, 4810 Exeter Avenue.
It is important to understand the items will be given away on a “first come-first served” basis. Those who come out to collect the used furniture must bring truck and required labor to obtain and remove items from the Community Center. No guarantees and or warranties on furniture items. A list of items is not available.
“I want to encourage anyone who has been affected by flood or fire or if you could use any of the items we offer to come out and get what you need this weekend,” says Shanklin.
