Councilwoman Sexton Smith thanks community donors for helping make a successful Drive thru Food and Toy Giveaway
“Our city should be very glad we have so many caring people who want to help those in need,” said Sexton Smith. “Marcus Withers, owner of The Palm Room, worked tirelessly to bring together many others who wanted make sure this holiday season is joyous for those who may have fallen on tough times during these last few months.”
The Drive thru Food and Toy Giveaway began at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at The Palm Room on West Jefferson. It was a first come first serve event and helped 2000 families. The event distributed 500 turkeys, 500 pork loins, $5000 in Kroger gift cards, $5000 worth of toys, 40 hams, and 40 care boxes from Dare to Care.
“During these unprecedented times, The Palm Room Lounge are amongst a host of sponsors, local and afar, are humbled to be able to provide food and toys to families, children, and the Louisville community,” said Withers. “The Palm Room’s mission is to be supportive of the community by way of showing our concerns and blessings to the lives of other during this 2020 holiday season and beyond.”
“We’re pleased to be donors during this time of year. This is a very imperative celebration. Reaching out to the community and having compassion for those in need is a part of our foundation. We wish you a Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!” said Winston and Alma Pittman.
