Councilwoman McCraney invites the public to stay updated on the work of Civilian Review Board Work Group
Louisville – Councilwoman Paula McCraney (D-7) announces a new online website to give the public an opportunity to stay updated about the work of the Civilian Review Board Work Group.
“The Work Group has met twice and produced a summary report of our work to date,” says McCraney, who is co-chair of the work group. “I believe it is very important for the public to stay informed on our discussions and actions. This website will allow them to review our work.”
The website provides complete information of the work group’s discussions through the end of June. Navigation links on the page provide all the materials the group is reviewing. There are also video links for the public to watch the two meetings held by the group so far.
The public can share their thoughts and recommendations now on the formation of a Civilian Review Board.
The work group will hold its next meeting on July 10 to be broadcast live on Metro TV. At this meeting, members will review a draft ordinance for the proposed Civilian Review Board. Once updated with necessary changes, the proposed ordinance will be placed on the website for review and comments from the public from July 17 – July 24.
After public comments are considered, the ordinance may be updated. The Work Group will sign-off on a final draft ordinance on July 31st , and it will be presented to President David James by August 7th for committee assignment.
“We invite everyone to share ideas and comments about the Civilian Review Board ordinance once it’s placed on the website. Our intent is to present President James with a ready-made document that ultimately will be forwarded to the full Council for a vote,” says McCraney.
The public may watch the proceedings live on Metro TV, Spectrum Cable Channel 184 or on UVERSE at Channel 99.
