March 18, 2015

Louisville – Councilwoman Jessica Green (D-1) will join the “Meals on Wheels” program on Thursday, March 19th to deliver meals to the elderly in District 1 and help bring attention to the need for volunteers to this important program.

“I am honored to join other volunteers who take the time to check

on those who are home bound and in need of a nutritious meal they may not be able to prepare for themselves,” says Green.

The Councilwoman will be working with the Volunteer Coordinator of the Oak & Acorn Community Center located at 631 S 28th St. Between 10:15am and 12:15am; she and the volunteers will be delivering meals on the Shively II Route out off of Cane Run Rd and Rockford Lane.

“We all know someone that is elderly and may be living alone,” says Green. “I can think of no better way to help someone who is homebound than by bringing them a delicious meal, a smile and maybe a little bit of conversation to let them know they are still a part of our community.”
