Councilwoman Green announces Parkland Neighborhood Food Mart Grand Opening set for Friday
Louisville - Councilwoman Jessica Green (D-1) announces a new business is ready to open its doors in the Parkland area and bring a new food outlet to West Louisville.
On Friday, October 9th, the Parkland Neighborhood Food Market will open its doors and begin serving the needs of the community.
“This new Food Mart will go a long way in combating the problem of a food desert in some of our communities. Its owner is no stranger to our area. I want to encourage everyone to support Tammy Hawkins, who is a longtime business owner in the parkland neighborhood. She has worked tirelessly to ensure that Parkland rises, and routinely donates food and other essential items to neighborhood members,” said Green.
The Parkland Neighborhood Food Market is located at 1228 South 28th Street and will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. daily. It will also offer lunch and other services.
The grand opening ceremony will take place at 1:00 p.m.
According to its owner, the Parkland Food Mart seeks to address food insecurities that exist in certain neighborhoods.
