Councilwoman George makes the call to Saturday volunteers for two projects in District 21
Louisville – Councilwoman Nicole George is putting out the call for volunteers this Saturday to help with two projects in District 21. They can either plant a tree or help with a community cleanup.
“This is a big weekend for us as we continue this year’s Planting O’ the Green effort by planting 47 new trees along Gheens Avenue,” says George. “Or if you want to help with a cleanup, we could use a hand on Durrett Lane.”
The Councilwoman is asking volunteers to gather at 5620 South Third Street at 9:30 a.m. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., the volunteers with the help of Brightside will begin planting trees in the 300 to 500 block of Gheens Avenue.
Planting O’ the Green is a partnership with Councilman Brandon Coan (D-8) and TreesLouisville, MSD, Brightside, Olmsted Parks Conservancy and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
Also, at 9:30 a.m., volunteers can gather in the gravel lot behind Derby City Gaming off Breitenstein Avenue for an hour long clean up along Durrett Lane.
“If you have some time, we would love to have you come join us and make our neighborhoods a better place to enjoy,” says George.
