Councilwoman Flood to bring in the 2014 holiday season with “Light-Up District 24” on Friday, November 21st

November 18, 2014

Louisville – Winter made an early appearance this week in Metro Louisville and Councilwoman Madonna Flood believes it is the perfect time for a traditional holiday event as “Light-Up District 24” gets underway with the welcoming of Santa Claus on Friday, November 21st.

“As we start this holiday season, we want this to be a special night for everyone,” says Flood. “This week’s snow is a perfect reminder that we should be thankful for all we have and celebrate our blessings as a community.”

Lone Oak Park, at the corner of Preston Highway and the Outer Loop, will be transformed into a seasonal holiday reminder with plenty of festivities for everyone. It is where the Councilwoman and Okolona Business and Professional Association President Jerry Hoganson will greet Santa Claus for the start of the holiday season.

The fun will start at 5:45pm when the Southern High School Concert Band sets the holiday mood with music before dancers from Stepping Out Dance Studio and children from Hartstern Elementary perform.

The Jolly Old Elf from the North Pole will make his arrival at around 6:30pm.

Louisville Metro Police Department, District 7, Okolona Fire Department, Councilwoman Vicki Aubrey Welch (D-13), White Castle and Golden Corral are also participating in the festivities.
