Councilwoman Flood announces new sidewalk project

August 28, 2023

Louisville (August 28, 2023) – Councilwoman Madonna Flood (D-24) is pleased to announce the successful completion of the McCawley Road sidewalk project, overseen by Metro Public Works, and constructed by Seven Seas Construction.

“I’m thrilled to convey the news about the finished sidewalk on McCawley Road. Residents are using it every day, and it’s a significant enhancement for the community. My gratitude goes to Metro Public Works for spearheading and ensuring the success of this initiative,” said Councilwoman Flood.

The project was first initiated in early 2020, and Councilwoman Flood contributed $250,000 in capital infrastructure funds towards the total expense of $873,500.

The new sidewalk stretches along the northern side of McCawley Road, connecting Preston Highway to Egypt Lane. This completes the pedestrian pathway to the Jefferson Green and Jeffersons Landing apartments, built in 2021.

The project highlights include:

  • Final Design plans were completed by Strand Associates.
  • Garnered approval permits from MSD, KY Division of Water (KYDOW) & Army Corps of Engineers (USACE).
  • Extended a double box culvert along Wetwoods Creek (Slop Ditch) to allow for the construction of the new sidewalk.
  • Relocated 430’ of LWC 6” watermain (LWC paid for the watermain material).
  • Added 1,900’ of continuous new sidewalk to the area.
  • Adding 3 fully ADA compliant ramp(s) crossing.
